History
My name is Can Akkaya, which was a long time "protected" more
or less by the nick name "xyx36" . Why you want to know?! Then
read this...![]()
Motorcycles,
or we better say riding a motorcycle, is inside of me. I drove for years,
from the amateur class up to Honda sponsored racing professional. IDM,
Dutch open, Spanish open, European championship and what the hell more...
ther's much to see and to feel, may you can imagine that. Then, 1995 I
had enough from "the business" and my wife Marion and me finished
this job with a superior win from international Motorsports. Let me tell
ya this... this thing sucks and I leave it with a good feelin'. However,
it made easy for me to change to other, new and different things. Switch
off thus and then we hit the road to the USA to sort our stars new...
10 years I had with motorcycles, let alone with motorsports, purely nothing on my hat. Contrary… I did not even regard only one race on TV. I never saw back in anger, but on the other hand I was even very proud, what I ever had carried out. Also, far beyond the sport. But then… nothing was sudden furthermore become as these memories and I determined, that I don't like to loose my memories. Fate comes along to me, as my cute daughter Jill was born. Men, and that gaves ya pastime enough, I mean hey… you don't go and paint the town red with your buddys, while your gal squats at home beside your asleep fallen baby… or not?! It happened which had to happend… I fall over my old press-folder, which did not bonded yet the last newspaper articles over me. Bored I try to place this on a DVD. But God knows… I hate personal record-like enumeratings. That does not succeed to me, because at the first text which I want to set under an article, slamm it trough my brain: "why da hell don't ya write how it really was to be a Racer?!".
And
this is what I did, with a joy on the keyboard that I write late into
the night at a text that I call'd "what's all about". My wife
Marion knew nothing from all of that. Only once she asked me "sometimes
I hear you laughed deep in the night… what da hell you doin' there?".
I take her byside and I show her what I written on. She reads, and after
a while she sat crying in front of the computer and said "…like
that, it was like that"! Then I suddenly remembered everything. To
humans, the technology, the intensity and even the smells, who surrounding
a race track. Nobody Can slow me down and I wrote the memories, chrash's
trough me. Marion meant, why I would not place this into the Internet.
After, it was done on a "Web space for free" from GMX, and Marion
drew the attention of the users to those unknowed little domain. Meanwhile
I summarized our racing years into further chapters. Only what I want
is to tell how it really was, what proceeded in me when I'm "in there".
Which it was and how it feels to be on the limit and to has to live with
that. I place chapters by chapters online and the GMX server landed on
his belly. GMX switches me off, coz' the traffic oversized them. That
became with 65,000 visitors absolutely to a Surf-tip over my new Domain
www.25sekunden.de.
Finally there was the online readers, that wished themselves, to hold
the "Racers story… 25 seconds…" once as book in
hands. They were it also, which drew the attention of the publishing houses
on to my story. Within one year I had signed my author contract with the
Mohland publishing house at germany. You Cannot introduce yourself, how
many Mails I get from fans, how many nights I wrote and how many memories
gets back to me, piece by piece from this section of my life. And after
all of this… I hold my book, my Racers-Story in hands. It was like
a victory lap.
The
first edition was faster sold out as they could printed, and Amazon crashed
over my publisher Mohland. 2006, only one month after publication, some
offers from trackday organizers fluttered my house. Offers from Racing
teams comes in, and they wanted me as their rider. TV, fairs, autograph
hours, Openings and book reading events stood now on my schedule. Interviews
and reviews brought contacts to the press. And it makes Bumm… I
sit on a sportbike and bieng back on track. Above of all… I have
the fun back, what I'll miss at the end of my career '95. Now I have a
awsome 2006 season behind. Many sponsors supporting me, just like in former
days, and I acquainted a lot of nice people. I've got TV interviews and
photo sessions as well, and my obligated two Crashs per year back. But
I Can do something, what means to me a lot: my knowledge and experience
to give others! As an instructor on racing tracks. Much better…
I Can ride and write about it, because I became an also free test editor
for various motorcycle magazines. Besides I'm a columnist and on that
way I continue such a little the "story".
2007 became even more intense. Further sponsors were added and there was a lot to do, especially as the chief instructor at the Racing School. Where the participants learn the theory and praxis
of racing. My official Website 25sekunden.de was hit about 82,000 times
a month by now and the US-Version www.racers-story.com was
launched. To great success I started to write racetrack reports on both
my domains.
But there is nothing compared to what happened in 2008. My duties with the Racing School were too intense and therefore I had to make some changes. My racetrack reports were now published by the Circuit-Magazine and my
Website www.racers-story.com hit
the monthly load of 102,000 hits. A crash at the Hungaroring with the result
of a broken shoulder forced me to take some time off. To bum around wasn’t
on the agenda though. In collaboration with Pixelmetrie I
produced a Video for
one of my sponsors, Blickvang,
which Blickvang shows at events and exhibitions. But now the one thing
that sticks out this season is that I was going to emigrate with Marion and Jill
to the US on November 3rd.
I live in the Bay Area of California since 2009 and I’m still a Racing Instructor, and more… I also giveRiding courses as well as Setup- and Wheelie courses for every motorcyclist on the road. You can check details on www.superbike-coach.com and on the Blog superbike-coach.blog.de.
